Help! / Awkward Glitch?

I just finished the battle at Zaland, and in the scene afterwards (where Mustadio explains Engineers, guns, and such), Ovelia started glowing red for no apparent reason. It was like I was holding square in combat and she was an enemy. Any thoughts on why this might be? It's very strange.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have problems trying to get custom characters into your party at the Akademy? For example, I've got three special characters, who are replacing the two male squires, and one of the female squires, but then whenever the event starts (after the Chapter 1 logo fades away), the game freezes, and my psp turns off.

EDIT: Found the problem. Apparently you can't replace the two squires who start talking before Ramza; in terms of the characters listed in the ENTD, that'd be the 2nd generic male squire, and the 2nd generic female squire.

Help! / "Special" Calculator

I was thinking about how many people say that Calculator (or at least, Math Skill) is op, and so they tend to replace it with something like Sage (from 1.3). So I was thinking, why not have a special character who's base job is essentially calculator, and change standard calculator to Sage. So I tried that; I have Sage the "<status> 2" spells, and switched Math Skill in Action Menus to <Default>, and then gave the special character's base skillset the Calculator skills, and changed their action menu to Arithmeticks. But then, even when I've got spells learned, and all of the original calculator skills learned, the menu in battle still can't be selected, saying that I haven't learned any combo skills. Did I miss a step, or can this just not be done?

Hacking/Patching Tools / TacText oddities

For one reason or another, there always seems to be some kind of error whenever I patch my iso with TacText. For example, it'll replace Knight with K(insert strange japanese symbol here)ght. It'll also replace the Mage in Time Mage with igge. Other times it won't change job names, skillset names, or ability names in Formation, but they'll be changed in battle. It will also frequently change "magic" to iggic.I'm very confused as to why all of this is happening, because it doesn't make any sense.

PSX FFT Hacking / Changing Teleport animation

I've been looking around the forum for a bit, and I'm still a little confused... I want to change Teleport/Teleport 2 to have the effect animation of Teleport 3: Send and/or Teleport 3: Arrive. Has there been any attempts to do something like this (giving a movement ability the animation of what appears to be an attack ability)?

I noticed some new ASM hacks in the new FFTorgASM version... But I'm not entirely sure what exactly they do, specifically the "Sprite Hack"... well... hacks.

PSX FFT Hacking / Modded PSX version on PSP

I recently did some basic modifications to the PSX version (sprite replacements, replacing a class, changing the power & range of some abilities, adding abilities to certain special characters, and applying some ASM hacks from FFTorgASM). The game runs fine on ePSXe, but fails to run properly as an EBOOT.pbp on my PSP. However, an unmodded version of the PSX game as an EBOOT.pbp (using the same exact technique) works normally.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Edit: Turns out that had something to do with the way I tried to replace unit.bin...

Anyways, now I get some glitches during battle (the text for exp/jp, status effect text, icons floating above head, the animation that Agrias uses right before Stasis Sword, etc.). Has anyone else had this type of problem, and if so, how did it get fixed (if applicable)?
