Title: READ BEFORE POSTING *12/26/10 UPDATE*
Post by: Dominic NY18 on February 14, 2009, 03:32:42 am
Have an idea for a new FFT mod? Great. You should start by heading over to New Projects Ideas (http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?board=42.0).

This part of the forum is for projects that have progressed far enough that at least a playable demo for the mod is available and the mod's author is actively working on the project. Keep in mind that any other kind of thread, like a thread proposing a new mod, will be either moved or deleted.

*12/26 Update: Shifted a bunch of topics over to the Ideas sub-forum. If you're looking for a thread that was under New Projects, check in the Ideas sub-forum (http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?board=42.0), since I likely moved it over there.

Just to clean things up, perhaps you should delete posts instead of locking them?

Oh, and I'd suggest deleting anything over a couple months old that is only made of ideas.  There may not be people posting in the "Ovelia Chapters" but we have 3 pages of stuff that just isn't projects.  I have threads I think should be deleted, such as my "Wiki Complication Project" too.  I know this is a forum, not a database, but seriously I have a hard enough time as it is to find the patches with work done on them still.

Edit: I like how "Fuck hacktics... I'm out" is one of the few threads with anything done in it.  =D

Noted. I'll probably do a little cleaning up later tonight, when I get home.

Can I motion for a thread deletion if it is my own thread?

^Has nothing done, and Cheetah has organized it better into a workable project that people like.

So I post an update to the sticky telling folks to leave dead threads be and just a week later, a thread that hasn't seen a new post in almost a year is revived. Am I talking to myself when I make the infrequent, incremental updates to the sticky?

Maybe I should just go ahead and lock every thread that hasn't seen any new posts after a certain date if people aren't going to bother reading this then.

But then what happens if people want to build off of an existing but dead idea? Don't they just end up making a new thread because the old one is locked? Though I suppose ideally they would bring ideas to the patch proposal thread and ask for the thread to be unlocked.

OK, I've updated the sticky with a revamped intro, a short message about job class ideas, and shortened the note on necroposting.

Finally got around to moving all of the topics without something playable posted to the Ideas sub-forum. If you can't find a certain topic, check over there since that's where it's likely to be.
