Event Editing / Re: Event Editing 101 WIP

Quick reply? That took me like 10 hours lol (damn work) anyway,

When patching with any program make sure that you don't have the image open in another program still :P

This is a very common issue that people experience and I myself do it quite often. Just make sure that you closed CDMage, and Shishi before trying to patch with FFTPatcher
and this SHOULD fix your issue, if not, post a screenshot.

Somehow missed this yesterday Kage, didnt expect you to be done so quickly, I will surely find some kind of use for this. Well done as always!

Did anyone ever make an actual devil sprite?  You know, red skinned guy, nearly naked, horns, tail, possibly some hooves.  Pitchfork.  Goatee.

AFAIK, no

Haha, thank you for saying pretty much exactly what i would say Joseph lol.

Yes we are very very close at this point and most of the remaining stuff is cosmetic, since as stated before, neither I nor my team will settle for anything less then perfection.

I do apologize about the lack of updates and changelogs tho, since unfortunately, there isn't much to say other then naming which event im currently working on, which would throw out huge spoilers.

Perhaps the biggest thing we are still waiting on is for Pride to finish a couple ASM's but other then that it's just implementation of everything and other minor cosmetic tweaks to events.

Awesome tutorial, I am really new to this and it is very helpful so far. I'm still stuck in part one though, for some reason when I open up my .bin file in Shishi it doesn't have me restructure, not sure if it is because I had already opened it in Shishi Prior to this. When I open up the file in CDMAGE, it gives me error message: Data Track has errors in the file system, content of data track may be displayed incorrectly. It doesn't ask to continue Parsing. It then opens up the bin under session 1, then track 1 then it has battle and Dummy folders, but not all the other ones I need like Event, etc. I don't know if this is an issue I can fix somehow or if I need to make a new image file of the game or what. I have been able to successfully patch things before, such as sprite changes, text, etc. I downloaded the versions of things you have posted with the tutorial, so not sure if it might be something to do with those rather than the ones I had used before. Anyways, any advice I can get on these issues would be very welcome, thanks.

Hello Wolfman, the reason Shishi doesn't restructure is because you've already done so, and it doesn't need to be done more then once. Now the reason CDMage may not be working for you is the version, you must make sure you have CDMage B5, you can get it at the link I provided (make sure you click on BETA release)

Also, you should only be opening the bin/iso/img in Mode 2 on CDMage.

One other thing, you may be having an error if you are playing a patched version of the game, for this tutorial, it assumes you are using a vanilla copy, so for best results i would suggest using a vanilla version of FFT.

Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

The easiest way (imo) to find out if you have the correct palette is to lead it into Palette Editor and click on one of the colors, it should correct the port for you, if it looks right in Palette Editor, it will look right in Shishi and in turn FFT.

Ugh. I meant how are you able to play FFT on a xbox 360 console.

You can play PSX and other emulators on Xbox 360 via Jtag, which is something I do, but its not easy anymore to find a console that it'll work on, due to
having to be before a certain update and whatnot. The process isn't to hard tho, if you are handy with a soldering iron.

How far are you planning to take this hack? Being able to edit the whole game with original plot, maps and characters would be downright savage. Suikoden is a game series that really could use some love from its fans.

^This, over and over and over again.

If enough tools were made, I would be interesting in helping out with a medium to large scale Suikoden patch.

Help! / Re: Event Editing Problem (again >.<)
May 24, 2012, 10:57:53 pm
You should really download EasyVent Super Perfect's newest version many of those unknown commands are explained and it has the newest compiler as well,
as for the music ive never had that specific issue, the only thing i could say would be to try the music command either a bit earlier or later in the event and see if
that solves the issue.

Help! / Re: Event Editing Problem (again >.<)

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you,

Do me a favor and post your entire event here (either in a spoiler or a Paste.bin link) along with the vanilla version of the event.

I work better when I can see it, since more often then not, it's something small that gets overlooked.

And no, by setup event i mean the event before every event labeled (Event name) Setup
which would only include a offset and a EventEnd() but since your event even starts you obviously have one,
so don't worry about that.

EDIT: I see you actually did post your event already. I will get back to you shortly

EDIT AGAIN: I'm still failing to see the problem in the event, but it does look like you are using an outdated version of EVSP, since some of the known commands are still unknown,
did you edit anything in the attack.out GUI at all?

Hey Jumza, for a battle to work it needs to have a setup (as all events do) then the battle event, then the victory condition event.

Setup
Battle
Victory

is the basic event setup for a battle,

Battles require event conditions for victory too, you can edit these in the attack.out event conditions spreadsheet,
both Cheetah and RavenOfRazgriz made tutorials for this.

Which event are you editing?
