Yeah, I had heard about the KH TCG and knew for a fact it wasn't going to do well. :P

News / Re: Let there be democracy

If I may be so bold, I nominate myself.

I know the majority of the community fairly well, except for some of the people who don't come onto IRC very often, and I'm on all the time (thanks in part to my almost-unemployment and lack of a life, apparently. :P)

I try to stay calm and look at both sides of a situation before acting, and ultimately, try to act as fairly to everyone as I can. I know I'm not really a veteran on here, like some people on here are, but I really think that with as much time as I spend on FFH, I could make sure it runs decently in Zodiac's absence. My biggest weakness, I think, would be the technical aspects of running the site, like if it gets hacked again. However, I know there are people out there who could guide me in such a case.

In regards to contributing to the site, I've contributed content for both Mercenaries and Call of Power, and am currently working on my own patch with the help of some other members of the community.

I've seen how this community is run, and I'd follow those methods. So, uh, vote for Eternal for admin for a non-chaotic FFH!

Also, Zodiac, I fully support your decision. But we've spoken about that before. So good luck, and enjoy your new life!

Let's set things straight, shall we?

First of all, it was me who brought your rant the other night to Zodiac's attention. Not Hana, not anybody else. It was me. Zodiac reviewed the log and came to the conclusion that what you had said to Hana, and how you acted to others was out of bounds.

For those who don't know, the argument was about Hana's personal, real-life issue. Voldemort decide he would lend his advice, which was rather... out of touch. Without going into detail, he suggested that the only solution for Hana's problem was going to college, which, as anyone can tell you, isn't always the right solution for certain problems.

From there, I stated my disagreement, and I proceeded to state why. The argument continued, with Arch continuing to rant, while disregarding the views of others. During the conversation, he called Hana a dumbass, and proceeded to say that we who disagreed were in fact out of touch. Now, for those of you who've had periods of struggle in their life will know that during that time is not a time to be called a dumbass, or to be ranted on. Hana simply asked for advice for her friends, and she got Arch's harassment instead. Even after asking for him to stop, Arch continued raiding on her until eventually she had to set him to Ignore.

From there, Arch continued his ranting to the rest of us. I'm normally very calm-headed, but even I had to leave. Suffice to say, he was pissing everyone in #FFH off that night with his views. Arch is more than entitled to his own views and opinions, but there's a line to be drawn when they're shoved down your throat in a very rude manner.

I admit, I too got very heated during that time and said rather disrespectful things to Arch, which were unmerited, which is why I chose to leave the chat room for a while. I apolgize for what I said, but not for reporting you to Zodiac. Zodiac isn't on IRC all the time, so she isn't able to catch every argument that happens.

The morning later, I told Zodiac about the incident. From there, Zodiac reviewed the logs and, as stated above, came to the conclusion that Arch was out of line with how he was acting on IRC. From there, Zodiac proceeded to poll other FFH members about the incident, and asked what had happened. From there, Zodiac decided that the best decision was to temporarily ban Arch.

TO BE CLEAR, ARCH WAS ONLY TEMPORARILY BANNED. HE CHOSE TO LEAVE.

It's a shame that Arch decided to delete all these files, but if anything that should prove just how little he cares about the site as opposed to his own pride. That said, Arch, if you have anyone to complain to, it's not Zodiac. It's me. Leave the transgenderism out of this, it's irrelevant. Be a man and take responsibility for your own actions.

I ask everyone to look beyond this ban and move on. We can continue to work, or we can let this stall FFH further. It's up to us to keep things moving, with or without Voldemort.

In two weeks, I'll be releasing a demo. The demo will feature four battles:

Sand Rat Cellar
Wiegraf vs. Algus
Thieve's Fort
Igros Defense

Since I'm not fully done with each class' skills, each battle will have set allies, but the jobs featured will be more than enough to keep you interested. ^_^

Every weapon in Newtype will be yours to use in the demo, and each character will have Equip Change so you can play with the new weapons all you want. Included will also be a save file right before Sand Rats, of course.

For you sprite fanatics out there, the sprites featured for some of the jobs are as follow (at least until I get custom, unique sprites for them):

-Melodia Fenzol for female Performer
-Canoneer for male Viking
-Lenneth Valkyrie for female Viking
-Werewolf for well, Werewolf
-Demetrius for Gerard
-Male Rogue for Male Brigand
-Female Rogue for Female Brigand
-Generic Male Warlock for Male Magus
-Generic Female Warlock for Female Magus
-High White Mage for Male Devout
-Generic Female White Mage for Female Devout
-Guardian for Male Paladin
-Scholar for Male Scholar
-Lucavi Follower for Male Necromancer
-Miluda (Custom) for Miluda

Good news: Weapons are done.

Bad news: Weapons with new ranges don't seem to read their new ranges. So Stout Spear still hits in 2 panels, rather than the new 1 panel. I need to talk with FFM or Philsov and figure out how to fix it.

EDIT: Strike that. Problem's fixed.
3047
For now, most of the effects are just placeholders. Particularly Enmity, Awakening, and Bulwark. I'll most likely get different animations for them once I go through R999's effect exhibition videos and find better ones.
3048
Not the fanciest video in the world (no sound, rather slow because I set the quality too high), but it'll at least show that progress is being made. Behold, the Paladin, in all its splendor! (Despite Martyrdom not working entirely).
3049
Luckily, I already do have a few jobs done in the Patcher, and quite a few skills are done. The issue with ENTD's is that I don't know yet which ones to edit in the Patcher for the new battles. I need to talk to Pride about it because I don't want to screw up a new event by doing something wrong in the ENTD.
3050
I still have a good amount of work done already on FFVI (the DSS and items, for example), but it's not really enough to warrant a new release. The only things left are editing monster AI scripts, formations, and the new script. That said, they're not necessarily -difficult-, but they are very time consuming, and require a lot of testing. Sadly, there are only 24 hours in the day, and between this and FFT: Newtype and life, there's just a lot going on. Rest assured, this project isn't dead. I still have everything in front of me to continue it, and I want to, but by popular request, FFT is coming first.
3051
The sad part is, probably only Zodiac, Phil, and myself know what game that's from. :(
3052
It would certainly be nice (and easier for me to organize stuff), but because so many projects have gotten boards that haven't been completed, I think Zodiac's a little leery about giving people boards these days. I welcome you to talk to Zodiac about it, as I have as well.

I -think- St. Ajora was around the same time as FFXII, maybe a little later. Ajora isn't mentioned at all in the JP version of FFXII, I think, so there are some liberties to the true place in the timeline. However, since Ajora's death and the Cataclysm happened around the same time, and the Cataclysm occurred slightly after FFXII (hundreds of years at most, maybe), it's very possible that the two are connected.

Without going into a long rant about Ivalice history, the answer to your question is no, Ajora was not around BEFORE FFXII. During or after, yes. Don't look too deeply into the Light of Faram. I think Matsuno did some retconning there, or someone did.

EDIT: A nice, simple timeline of Ivalice's history.

Final Fantasy XII -> ONE YEAR LATER ->  Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings -> TWO YEARS LATER -> Final Fantasy Tactics: A2 (Ivalice) -> HUNDREDS/THOUSANDS OF YEARS LATER-> Cataclysm -> ROUGHLY ONE-THOUSAND YEARS LATER -> Fifty Year War -> ONE YEAR LATER -> Final Fantasy Tactics -> HUNDREDS OF YEARS LATER-> Vagrant Story -> HUNDREDS OF YEARS LATER (Modern Day) -> Final Fantasy Tactics Advance -> ABOUT TEN YEARS LATER -> Final Fantasy Tactics: A2 (St. Ivalice)

Apparently one of Terra's new costumes is based off of Celes' outfit. It's in one of the screenshots with Vaan.

Jon, what the hell? Did you even think before you posted that? Really, calling someone an IT? I don't usually get involved in situations like this... but that was very, very offensive. Don't be surprised if you're banned again.

EDIT: Got what he deserved.
3056
It's been about a week, and I haven't been able to get much done because I've had a rather bad cold flu thingy lately. However, events are coming along nicely and thus far the skills I've made have been working pretty well. So things are on track, people! ^_^

I'm not sure if you'll listen, since I'm pretty sure you have your mind made up already, but these are my thoughts on this.

For one, each version of 1.3 isn't an individual game. There's no real reason to play each one unless you want a harder DD or harder story battles. Elsewise, it's really a waste of time.

Secondly, the reason Arch plays each version is a for quality control. If you don't test through your patch, there's no way to make sure that it works how you'd like it. Take it from me. The very first patch I ever made for a game was FFVI. I was so excited to get it out, that I didn't fully playtest it and as a result, the testers found a ton of bugs. Thus, to prevent things like that, you need to go through the patch and play it yourself. That's what Arch did.

If you want to play each version, by all means, go for it, and have fun. I'm not going to begrudge you on whatever you choose, since it really accomplishes nothing. The best thing to do at this point, I think, is to just drop this matter altogether. As you can see, nothing is really coming of it, so it's really a waste of time to continue arguing about something as pointless as this.

Remember, the bigger the house, the more to clean. >_>

And even if you get maids, that would just be more money out of your pocket. Me? I'd be fine with a cozy loft somewhere.

The Lounge / Fun Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Video
November 12, 2010, 05:47:53 am
I found a rather interesting video last night showing a battle between Alucard and Richter, from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The fight was pretty well made, so I decided to show it to you guys. It's about two years old, so I'm surprised I didn't see it sooner.
