My World.Bin is empty after 0xAC290. The addresses are there, its just that everything is zero. Is this because i'm running the psp version? or is this normal? or am i looking in the wrong place? i'm trying to edit which unit.bin sprite the jobs/sprites point to in formation, so i'd start looking at 0xADE34, right?

would you be willing to point me to the forum that explains how to do this? I've tried to find it but am confused. The UNIT.BIN sticky thread in the spriting forum confuses me, all i see are a bunch of numbers and names.

EDIT: Okay so i think i kind of understand now. So i would open up WORLD.BIN with my favorite hex editor, look for the address 0xADE34 as the starting address for the special characters. This address corresponds to job/sprite zero, so 0xADE35 would be chapter 1 ramza, and 0xADE6E would correspond to Celia (Never Used) and 0xADE6F would be Lede (Never used). I would then change those values to the values of the unit.bin sprites i want to use for them? And to do the same thing for zalbaag i would use address 0xADE3C?

If this is right or wrong, please tell me. If its right, then i'm not a complete moron, and if its wrong it just means i have a lot to learn.

Hey i know this is pretty much a dead topic but i figure i'd try here anyway.

Was there ever a fix to this? i'm having the same problem with my character that replaced gaffgarion, disappears when he turns traitor. A solution, if found, would be greatly appreciated.

Its because you used the spell animations. In WotL the spell animations slow down the game, so it takes twice as long. This happens with all spell effects, including holy sword abilities and things like chakra. So far there is no way to fix the slowdown.

Help! / Replacing Gaffgarion and Agrias

So i condensed down gaffy and agrias to one sprite each and replaced the sprites that i had freed up. I also made sure to have all of the ENTD occurrences of them be their sprites and not the ones i replaced. It worked great for the opening battle and all of chapter one.

But then i got to chapter two. i knew something was fishy right away when my replaced sprites (tifa and sephiroth) were talking instead of the intended agrias and gaffgarion. Then i got to the zeirchelle falls battle. Saving beforehand, i ran through the battle twice. The first time i used tifa and sephiroth. Again, they were reciting the lines that were supposed to be for gaffgarion and agrias. But then when i defeated the real gaffgarion, both sephiroth and gaffgarion teleported away. After the battle, sephiroth was no longer in my party (neither was the guest gaffgarion). After reloading, i went through the battle using generics instead of tifa and sephiroth. The proper characters recited their lines properly, but sephiroth was still missing from my party upon completing this battle.

Does this happen to everyone who replaces their characters? is there away around it? perhaps i missed something in the ENTD? or would this be something i'd have to fix with asm hacking? I could live without sephiroth but i really like my tifa character (I made new abilities for her and everything, beat rush, dolphin blow, meteor strike and final heaven). I don't want her to disappear when agrias leaves my party with ovelia. Should i just replace a different sprite instead of agrias? Any help, suggestions, or insight would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I continued on the story until the point where agrias leaves the party. Agrias stayed in my party and tifa left. Perhaps this information may help. I also just checked my patch, ETND has agrias 1E meeting with draclau, ovelia, and mustadio, but my tifa is (former Agrias) 34. 34 is the job/sprite that disappeared from my party.

Wow! that disgaea ronin looks sweet! any more disgaea sprites up your sleeve? i've been looking for some and i really like this one. i'll have to keep an eye out for when its finished so that i can replace the female samurai. Great job Atma.

Ah Hah! Thank you much. perhaps i will try that out if someone ever finishes the disgaea sprites i've heard someone was working on.

Wow i didnt even notice the color difference in the hair. After looking in the game it does seem to be closer to the color of the generic sprite, and vastly different from argath/algus' bright yellow hair.

By the way when referring to places and characters, do most people use the WotL translation or the original psx version? Personally i like the WotL translation better, it makes much more sense on the whole, but i do wish they would have kept some of the older names, like sAlgus and Sweegy Woods.

So yeah. Here's my first attempt at a sprite, using MasterGrand's Young Ramza Noble as a base, and then getting the cape from Vanya's Alternate Aliste, and messing with the palette a bit, fixing the cape and scarf. I know its not perfect but hopefully its good enough for someone?

P.S. i dont know if there's a specific format i'm supposed to follow so i'm just going to post a preview and the full sprite.

Edit: Oh yeah i didnt change the portrait from the original Young Noble Ramza. I liked it and i'm lazy.

Hey good call that may well have been the problem. On the other hand, would that explain my game crashing when trying to change sephiroth's job when i was checking for bugs?

Alright i've scoured the forums as best i could, but have been unable to find a conclusive answer to the usability of these sprite/job slots. These are the celia/lede sprites marked as (Never Used) in FFTPatcher. I attempted to use them to get tifa and sephiroth into my game, and got some fail. I made sure that tifa was sprite and job 39 and sephiroth was sprite and job 3A, but the sephiroth job had the tifa sprite and the tifa job had a squire sprite...

I don't know if i did something wrong or if these slots are simply unusable. After consolidating agrias and gaffgarion down to one sprite/job each, i replaced the newly open sprites with tifa and sephiroth and they seem to work perfectly (although some of the story events use the new sprites as well, i think i missed some when consolidating in the ENTD).

Any help would be appreciated, there are a few more characters i wouldnt mind getting but i think i've run out of sprites to consolidate.

After indexing in GIMP save the image as a .bmp, then open it in Graphics Gale. Go to "All Frames" on the menu, use the "Color Depth" option and bring the color depth down to 4bpp.

Alternately, when you create the new .bmp in GIMP to paste your formation picture in, make sure the file is 28x40 pixels and 4bit (16 colors) instead of 8 bit (256 colors).

Hopefully one of these options will be your solution, i've used both and they work for me.

EDIT: PS as long as the formation picture is colored correctly you don't need to import a .pal file when changing UNIT.bin

Okay well its the sprite, and from what i can tell it has something to do with the order shishi's exports sprites to .bmp files. Has anyone else had problems? Because when i look at Young ramza noble .SPR in shishi's, the order of some of the rows of parts are different than when i export it and look at it as a .bmp. Could this be caused by an older version of shishi's as opposed to the new one? When converting .spr to .bmp i use shishi's .271 because i can open a .spr file directly instead of opening an .iso first. Any insight would be appreciated.

Also, if someone could point me to a master picture that tells me exactly where all the parts in the sprite are supposed to be that'd be great. I saw one a few days ago but can't seem to find it again. The one i saw had outlines for each individual frame, like the ones that are used in shishi's but all of them on the picture at the same time.

EDIT: Exported sprite with .352 and found that the .271 export doesn't order things properly. should be able to fix now, hopefully

Hi there everyone. I "finished" my first attempt at making a sprite instead of just using some of the ones found here. I got it looking decent in Shishi's, all the animations in there looked good to me (i checked up to 78 i think). Then i loaded it into my game,it was going well until the first time i attacked, and the sprite freaked out. Moving, charging, casting all look fine, but i dont know why the attack animation is screwed up. I built the sprite from the Young Noble Ramza and Alternate Aliste sprites, and i haven't acquired permission from their spriters to post, so if you would like to help let me know and i'll send it to you.
