Ramza into Holy Swordsman? Delita (Guest) into Dark Knight?

Heyas, so, uh, I've run into a bit of a problem. I recently bought a used PSOne, a new Gameshark Lite, a used memory card, a used controller, and a used copy of Final Fantasy Tactics and I've tried to enter the following codes to turn Ramza into a Holy Swordsman and Delita (Guest) into a Dark Knight:

Ramza into a Holy Swordsman:
80057F76 000D

Delita (Guest) into a Dark Knight:
80058F76 0011

After the opening video and the words Orbonne Monastery show up, the game glitches and I'm stuck. Am I doing something wrong? Please help. :(

Try it from a save rather than from the very start of the game.

I'm not sure if this is an option for you, but if you Emulate Tactics using a program such as ePSXe and an ISO on your computer, you can actually use FFTPatcher to change Ramza's default squire job and Delita's default squire job so that they perfectly resemble those classes. I'll attach a few screenshots of how I have my Holy Knight Ramza set up. It's pretty easy to do! :)

Here's the job Configuration.

Editing the skillset that goes with that Job

Then using FFTactext, I quickly renamed Ramza's Squire jobs (Chap1, 2/3 and 4) to Holy Knight

Finally, using FFTactext again, I changed the skillset name from Guts to Holy Sword.

And the final result

And skill progression

It's a little more work, but I find that it's less prone to error than a Gameshark.

So, I used a Gameshark Lite to input the following codes into my PSOne in order to change Ramza to a Holy Swordsman and Delita to a Dark Knight:

80057F76 000D (Ramza into Holy Swordsman)

80058F76 0011 (Delita into Dark Knight)

The result was, somewhat less than expected. Their classes sort of changed. It says they are indeed Holy Swordsman (with All Swordskill) and Dark Knight (with Dark Sword Skill) but when I go to learn new abilities it still says Squire and gives me the list of Squire abilities for both of them. So in short, their jobs and action skills changed but I can't access their skills (aka Ramza doesn't even have Stasis Sword and Delita doesn't even have Night Sword).

Any idea what I did wrong and what can be done to fix this? I'm at a complete loss here people.

Try learning the Squire skills anyway. Hopefully, it'll learn the proper skills that match those slots for those jobs as well.

I tried that. The skills are not that of the Holy Swordsman and Dark Knight. Yell is still Yell. Wish is still Wish.

Does anyone know the codes I need to input into my Gameshark Lite that will actually change Ramza's job to Holy Swordsman and Delita's job to Dark Knight plus give them the abilities of those classes (aka Stasis Sword, Night Sword, etc etc)?

Okay, I used FFT Patcher to generate the following codes for my Gameshark Lite to use on my PSX Final Fantasy Tactics.

80064D08 9C9B
80064D0A A09D
80064D0C A5A1
30064D21 009B
80064D22 9D9C
80064D24 A09E
80064D26 A5A1
80064D3A 9C9B
80064D3C 9E9D
80064D3E A09F
80064D40 A4A1
30064D42 00A5
30064D57 00A5

It did the job but it wasn't permanent. I keep having to upload the codes to the game via the Gameshark Lite before I can play the game. I've tried saving the game to my memory card but it did not good. Is there a way to make these codes permanent so I don't keep having to use the Gameshark Lite CD before I play the game?

Nope.

You should really look into a modchipped PSX or PSX emulators if you want to play the game modded... GS Codes can't permanently alter your saves for anything in the modding department.

Love what you're seeing? https://supportus.ffhacktics.com/ 💜 it's really appreciated

Anything is possible as long as it is within the hardware's limits. (ie. disc space, RAM, Video RAM, processor, etc.)

<Raijinili> remember that? it was awful

Answered pretty much this exact question for someone on GameFAQs little while ago (the night after Xif's above reply, actually).  In case you're not the same person, or someone else comes here looking for that info, I'll give you the short answer:

Enter the codes

30057F7B 004A
30058F76 0011

and save your game.

The memcard will then be storing your desired Skillset/Job as references to the default slots, so this will continue to work without more GS-Lite booting.  This condtition will persist provided you don't change Delita's job or Ramza's secondary (and then save).  For a slightly more detailed explanation see the full (but brief) thread at https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/197339-final-fantasy-tactics/75215098.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who know binary, and those who don't.

Hi,

I'm trying to make Ramza a Holy Knight for my PS1 console version, is this possible?

Nyzer

Yes.

And though you probably won't need it for this, as adding skills to skillsets and changing Job names is really straightforward if you just poke around a bit, here's something for future reference:

How do I change a character's name? Can someone help me? I want to replace Orlandu, but even using FFTacText, the name remains as Orlandu, what do I do?

Leaving this here so you understand why you got your warning... do not post your question in multiple places to try to get a faster answer.
