I agree with Kaijyuu, FFT and 5 have the best class systems. The only thing I didnt like about 5 was that for me, it took way to long to master any class.

I think what you are looking for Philsov is an english translation of the Zodiac Job System version of FFXII. Melonhead and myself have taken note of this project already, I believe you should as well. The current version should be totally playable.

Wouldn't it require your PS2 to be chipped?

I don't know if there's English versions, but there's tons of turn based games for the DS here in Japan

My favorite turn-based games for the DS would be Luminous Arc and Summon Night
But Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days beats both of them <3

yah, i never played summon night, i think the original one for the psx is turn based in japanese, luminous arc is a great series, i think there gonna release a third one, i really enjoyed valkyrie profile covenant plume, story was easy but the game encourage's u to play 3 playthroughs for each path to see every ending and unlock a endgame seraphic gate feature.

"Dave?  Are you there?"
"Yeah.  I can't get you through the cell now."
"You have to talk through the bratwurst from now on. I'm sorry. I didn't know it would do that."

Finally got my hands on Super Mario Galaxy.
Tried Wii Music; it's pretty fun.

Still gnawing away at FFIV:tAY & Megaman 9.

Beat Castlevania Rebirth, its really good as long as you dump the misconception that it is a remake of Castlevania Adventure.

Just *acquired* that myself. It's a lot of fun so far! ^_^
Quite challenging, and in a good way. It reminds me of a cross between SMB3 and SMW.
The new propeller power up is cool. The ice flower is interesting. Haven't found a penguin suit yet.

From the videos I've seen, I'm not sure I'd like the physics of the game. Reminds me too much of SMB3 (SMW had way better mario movement).

It's not quite like either of them, actually.
The physics are based on the DS game which is itself a heavily modified version of the SMB1 physics but with jump heights more closely resembling SMW.
If you played DS you'll be familiar with the extra moves; wall jump, wall slide, & ground pound.
One of the really cool parts is the new abilities they gave Yoshi. He's more or less like the SMW version, but with the addition of his YI flutter jump, the ability to grab hammers and spit them back at enemies, & he instead of getting powers from colored shells he gets them from the enemies he grabs. For example, I grabbed a venus firetrap and when I spit it back out Yoshi instead spat one of those big fireballs from "Mario Bros.". I don't know if he can get any other powers from enemies, but my point is that there is a crap-load of cool stuff in this game.

From what you just described ...they made Yoshi awesome.  I must have it.  Sucks that I live nowhere near my brother now that.  The multiplayer would probably enhance gameplay oh so much.  I'll have to wait for the Thanksgiving break anyways as I left my Wii at my mother's house with my siblings and I won't be in the area until then.  The good part about that is that it would make a very convenient birthday present.

Dragonage has caught my eye.  When I get my new computer assembled and up and running, I might just have to try it out.
