Help me play FF Hacktics!

Hi all,

I have been playing FFT since I was a kid and would love to design characters and play against other fans... however, I am not a "computer person" and in trying to figure out how to do these things for myself through this website I find pages with over 100 bullet points as and dozens of suggestions on things I need to download and make communicate with each other and it's really frustrating to try and navigate.  I always give up after going from one page to the next to the next trying to figure out what all these things mean.  I also don't have 40 spare hours per week to devote to learning how to write a program from scratch or anything like that...

I know that most people feel that I should have to "earn my stripes" and start from scratch because that's what they did but frankly I don't have that kind of time and I am not interested in learning how to manipulate computer software for the rest of my life.  I just want the ability to maximize the replay factor of my favorite story of all time.

Since I know that people are loathe to "give away" the secrets or whatever, I offer a trade.  You walk me through what I need to play FF Hacktics, and I will write some FFT-style custom music for your battles.  Tempting offer??  I've been composing for 15 years and I am good at it.  Here's some examples of music I've written:

https://soundcloud.com/tomayers/it-wasnt-i
https://soundcloud.com/tomayers/crescendo-for-film-trailer-etc
https://soundcloud.com/tomayers/theme-for-film

Anyway I was really excited to discover this community but equally devastated that it's only accessible to those who are proficient with computers.  Please help this noob (and other noobs like me) unlock the potential of this game.  Thanks.

Tom

First off, I listened to your songs, very good work. If only it was easy to insert custom music into FFT.

Second, there is no FFH mod. FFH is a community and we host several FFT mods, that vary in style and taste.

No one has secrets here, we WANT people to learn and would never hate to share anything... No idea where that
idea even came from.

It all really depends on what you are trying to do...

The simplest thing you can do to start your FFT hacking experience is heading to the downloads page and getting yourself the 3 basic programs that everyone uses, FFTacText, ShiShi Sprite Manager, and FFTPatcher. (fftorgasm is in there too, but its better to stick with the basics when starting right?) There are many tutorials in this section, as well as an index for finding them easily to help you navigate the various programs. It's important to know that we will not hide anything from you, it only feels that way if you don't ask questions!
