Help! / Re: Problems with replaced sprite animation
November 06, 2015, 04:51:47 pm
Mike, I changed the SHP & SEQ in Shishi both to type one, and even checked the animation in there, and it seems to work fine, but for some reason, in the game itself, he still walks weird. I am also familiar with the whole sprite glitches in events when replacing characters. While I can overlook that one, there is also the battle where you have to protect cloud, and that one is even worse so I had to change it lol. Elric, I guess I will try your second suggestion, because I am not really familiar with spriting :p

Help! / Problems with replaced sprite animation
November 05, 2015, 09:32:31 am
I wanted to use the Young Snake sprite created here, and wanted to give it to a job that did not appear much in the main story. At first I replaced the monk, but there was the sprite graphical error in Chapter 1's intro to the battle in the Sand Rat's Seitch due to the blasted generic Monk with the shoulder shrug. Then I tried to replace the Geomancer, but since Snake is a Type 1, and the Geo a type 2, I saw in a tutorial that in such circumstances, you need to change the type of the sprite being replaced, to the new one, so basically, I would need to change the Geo to Type 1 to do this. However, Snake walks like he's all cocky and it looks weird. Anybody know how to do this properly, or should I just go back to using a Monk, or another Type 1 Job

Help! / Re: Changing in battle weapon sprites
October 13, 2015, 12:39:48 pm
So I guess it seems I would be unable to do as I please with the weapons unless I start messing around with the PSX version of the game huh? I see. It's ok then. I was only trying to make a cool use of the fell swords because they all suck lol I could add the effects as intended and keep the menu sprites as I please, but it bugs me that in battle the weapons all share the same crappy looking graphics, well the first ones at least. Are all the hack tools here meant for a ROM of the PSX then? Or can they be used to mess around with an actual copy of the game? I have it for the PSX, I just never touched it because I couldn't get used to the dialogue on the Original game, as it was all weird and akward since I was used to the PSP lol

Help! / Re: Changing in battle weapon sprites

It's all good bro lol It might work for the psp as well, but how do I patch the changes with Orgasm? I tried saving them but when I opened Orgasm, there didn't seem to be any option to do that in either program. And when I save the changes in item workbook, does it matter what format I saved the file?

Ok. I seem to have the program working now. Is this for the PSX by any chance? I cannot seem to find the fell swords. And is the swoosh the weapon sprite seen when you swing the weapon in battle?

Help! / Re: Changing in battle weapon sprites
October 12, 2015, 01:37:45 pm
Oh ok. So I am assuming that changing a color on any pallet will change all the colors on all weapon that share the same pallet. But what if I want to change only one weapon? For example I wanted to change the Nagnarok to the sword located on 7D in Nevarie's first item pallette. That could be done, but then I would have to change the colors on the others on the same one in sishi as well. More importantly though, I want to change the fell swords to have the same weapon sprite as the Nagnarok, but with different colors. I read somewhere here that with another program, you could use hex editing to change the in-battle sprites of weapons in the BATTLE.bin but I haven't been able to find what program it is. Do you know anything about that?

Help! / Re: The Black Crystal of Death
October 10, 2015, 03:16:24 pm
Ah I see. It's a shame, because I liked the idea of having him fight with black and purple undead knights. Guess I'll just use the regular church colored knights in that battle then. Thanks :)

Help! / Changing in battle weapon sprites
October 10, 2015, 03:13:52 pm
I just tried to change the weapon sprites using the item palette index here because I thought it would be cool to turn fell swords into regular swords with an added spell effect, like the icebrand. The problem persists in that while the weapon sprite changes on the menu screen, the in battle sprite remains the same. Is there any way to change this, or is it impossible to make such changes to the game? And I am using the PSP version of the game btw.

Help! / The Black Crystal of Death
October 08, 2015, 09:56:41 pm
I recently hacked the battle against cuchulain in chapter 2, and added 4 new colored knights to the battle, who are each wearing the cursed ring. After killing them, if they turn into crystals, they turn into black ones. I'm guessing because they don't have any affliation to any of the alliances, they turn black. If you get one of them, your game will keep running after you choose to recover hp, or take the units skills, but won't proceed to the next unit's turn lol I guess since it's a new color and not any of the original 5, it's a glitch that will stick around, so if you guys add any enemies or allies with a new color for any job, you might want to make them immortal in case your enemies try to grab one of the crystals, so your game doesn't freeze in the middle of a battle. just a heads up :p

Help! / Re: Switching Generic Jobs color pallettes
September 30, 2015, 09:39:38 pm
I made the video of the battle using the replaced sprites if you guys want to see it. I'm not sure where to post the video, so I put it on youtube in the following link. Read the video description on there for the full run-dwon. Thanks again for all your help guys. I made a similar post in the events section because I think that's where you're supposed to post it, so if it goes against the rules for double-posting or something, feel free to take it down if you are an admin. Just let me know where I am supposed to post such things on here, and where it's ok to post a video on this site.

Event Editing / Hacked Zalera Boss Battle
September 30, 2015, 09:34:06 pm
I made a video fighting against Zalera in Chapter 4 using some custom sprites found here, and changed the colors of some generic untis, as well as edited enemies statuses and some moves. Check it out and let me know what you guys think. Read the video description for the full details. I made this just for fun. Thanks to all the guys who helped me figure out how to change unit sprite colors, and everyone who's posted tutorials on here. Keep those sprite creations and ideas coming! I wasn't sure where to post it on here, so I put it on youtube. It can be found in the following link.

Help! / Re: Switching Generic Jobs color pallettes
September 29, 2015, 10:37:39 am
Thanks for all your help guys! I found a way around all my issues. I was getting my portraits by screenshotting them from Shishi, and noticed that those images were saved as PNG formats, and did not change color when I would edit them in paint, so I started to do that with the jobwheel sprites as well, and now when I go into paint and crop them, the colors don't get screwed up! Then I use another program called Able Batch Converter to convert all the images to 16 color BMP's and the end result is just as it should be!!!! Btw, is it against the rules to post a link to a youtube video if it is related to the game? Like if I made a video of a battle just for fun, would that be against the site's rules for spamming or something? I think I am gonna make one using some of the custom sprites I found here, and with some of the color edits I did for the generic jobs :D

Help! / Re: Switching Generic Jobs color pallettes
September 28, 2015, 11:43:43 am
Thanks for the responses guys! Jumza, I actually found the pallete editor a few days back and rendered it useless, but that was before I figured out how to replace sprites, I got it for the wrong purpose before, but then downloaded it again, and got it working. Amici, when I open the pallete in graphics gale, for some reason, after saving the edit, I am no longer able to import it into my iso. Shishi doesn't read the results. Like the new image won't be in the proper format anymore, and it will not let me see the other colors except the first one while editing so it doesn't seem to help much. Palette editor seems to do the job. Elric, as far as the formation screen goes, I use paint to crop the job wheel sprite from the palette sheet, and the portrait from a screenshot, and another program to convert them to the proper format, but my job wheel sprite's always get screwed colors.

Help! / Re: Switching Generic Jobs color pallettes

Ok. I will try CDprog, but how do I switch the palettes around? There doesn't seem to be an option to do so in Sishi.

Help! / Switching Generic Jobs color pallettes
September 26, 2015, 03:58:28 pm
Hey guys. So I was wondering, is there a way to switch the colors generic jobs use on their first palette with another shown in Shishi Sprite editor on the PSP? I already know how to replace sprites, I just want to change the white mage female pallete so that the party units use the white and blue striped cloaks rather than the white and red. I have access to Lion Editor, FFTextPatcher, FFTEVGRP, Graphicsgale, CDMage, and both the old, and New Shishi. I must also ask, when I tried to extract the Unit, and Wild Bin files on CDMage, I got the following message, and I can't seem to do it, so I have to use an annoying process to replace the PSP Job wheel, and portrait sprites. Anybody know why and how to fix it? I followed Celdia's tutorial in the link below, but get stuck when trying to extract the 2 bin files because of the error in CDMage.
