New Project Ideas / Re: Romantic patch anyone?
December 31, 2017, 09:47:17 pm
I...have been away for far too long O.O
Coming back to this after so long, I'm not so sure this needs to exist anymore, but it could still happen I suppose.
I do like the concept of being able to "bond," with one or more characters, though...

Still doing this, if anyone's still interested.

I'm still doing this, by the way. I had a small hiccup since my old computer died and now I'm using a different one, but I have all up-to-date backups on this machine so I'll be back to the sprites and the mods as soon as I install some RAM in my computer!

Sure thing - I didn't see it! Dx

Here's yet another update (I want to get most of it right before I work on the sprite for realsies)
6
How's this?
7
Something like this maybe?

I know I post a lot in here, and I'm also very aware that posting here doesn't mean anything, but for the most part I'm just bringing up ideas. But this one would be really, really great, since we don't have any sprites like this.

Rey, from the new Star Wars movie. I found some anime-ish pictures that might make it easier to figure out which FFT portraits to use, along with the sprite itself.

I'm sure you could find a lot of people who could help you with ideas, both style-wise and story-wise, myself included; and I could definitely push myself to work on the graphics for something like that but you really need a team for something like that. What engine are you going to use for the game? Or are you going to make your own? Also, what kind of feel would you want for it? Would you want it to be similar story-wise and detail-wise to FFT, or just mimic its battle and party systems? I'd be very interested in working with someone in the nuances of such a thing, storyboarding especially since I'm an author, but at the same time you have to be familiar with the fact that such an undertaking will take months, if not years of your time, and then ask yourself if it's REALLY something you want to do. I would recommend working on a basic system first and previewing and then I'm sure many more people would be interested in helping you, seeing as there's many people who have posited similar ideas. But I'm here if you want to go over storyboards/basic programming/spriting elements.

I'm sorry for being quick to judge - what you have now is totally rad! By the way, I very much like the kilted version, myself :p

The colors are flat on that one - you should really change up the portrait.

I'm still working on her! I've been busy lately but I'll post another update here pretty soon ^.^

An interesting little concept. Would you modify special jobs, as well?

The colors here are weird, and the sprite itself looks wonky and squished. I can see what you're trying to go for here, but my advice would be just to start fresh.

Help! / Re: Questions involving FFTP (Move if necessary)
December 09, 2015, 06:09:02 pm
Use the latest version of FFTacText. The version .483 bundle comes with FFTPatcher, FFTacText, FFTorgASM, and ShiShi Sprite Editor. Unfortunately, unless you edit the executable for FFTPatcher, the ability names won't change to reflect the TacText changes, but it's not really important; you just have to remember which abilities correspond to what. Usually when I'm doing edits, I'll keep TacText and Patcher open at the same time for reference. Another boon for the PSX - the QuickEdit (only use this unless you want a lot of confusion) is much more comprehensive than for the PSP version. When editing WoTL, it was irritating to have to search endlessly through the various text files to do edits.

The PSX version unfortunately for most is just better to mod. I started with trying to mod WoTL, and while I was able to do some of the things I could do on PSX (Mainly add new characters/abilities, somewhat change events though they have different pointers), if you're looking to make any serious patch, WoTL is just not viable in any way.

New Project Ideas / Re: Dycedarg's Elder Brother

I like the mode of thinking you and Doctus have about the names; I wouldn't be too ready to give him a name like Avzalam if only for its similarities to Alazlam/Arazlam. Alfantz/Ulvans too is similar to Alphons/Alphonse Draclau/Delacroix, additionally. Finally Dardonai/Dyrodon I enjoy, but the name is too similar sounding to Dycedarg. I'm thinking at this point we should just assemble a myriad of names based on the structure you've provided and we put up a poll.

Non-FFT Modding / Re: Tactics Ogre modding
December 09, 2015, 03:27:48 am
Well, right now we have a couple of functional (?) editors for the SNES version of Tactics Ogre, they just need translating. The code is all right there for the set; down to the very language files. It would be neat if you could translate that to the PSX code or improve upon the capabilities of the editors we DO have (check the links I posted for their capabilities) if that's at all possible. On the same related note, we could work on creating a FFTPatcher-like editor for the PSP version, if you know how to work with code handling and hooks & translating that into patchable code (I have hundreds of Gameshark like codes for the game).
