Are weapon animations hard coded or can they be changed?

I want to eliminate bags.  They suck and they take up space.  I want to change them into other weapons but I want to make sure that when I change them into greatsword and guns they don't continue to look like bags in battle.  Are the weapon animations hard coded or are they based on the image and pallete you select in fftpatcher?

Here. Cheetah got this info from the Japanese wiki and I've been experimenting with the values to see how they can be manipulated in relation to the weapon graphics. For example, I discovered that some values can go higher to allow for more graphics but usually overlap the graphics of other weapon types. However, some weapon types have values that extend to unused graphics that can be replaced.
