Its' really neat.  It enhances the colours, and uses anti-alaising on everything.  You need a graphics card obviously.

How does it look on FFT?

Sometimes I like pixel-y goodness.

Holy crap, the bump map shader looks freakin' awesome!! I wonder how it would look on games with simpler or 2d graphics?

I have no idea.  It's a shader just for the epsxe emulator.  I know of nothing comparable for the snes, nes or anything like that.

I'll upload some pics of FFT and other games when I have the time.

Don't forget that the PSX has simpler 2D games & mixed 2D/3D games...
BTW it looks freakin awesome on most games. Try it with Asteroid's and you'll think they re-released it for pc with upgraded graphics!

Could you define "simpler 2D graphics" ?  I thought Gradius Gaiden and Symphony of the Night would have counted.

Simpler as opposed to 3D. Yeah they do count.

Someone post FFT before and after pics.  I don't have a good enough connection to upload photos.

Yeap. this calls for a job for me =) I will provide 4 screens. (in order) Low settings without, High Settings Without, Low Settings With Natural, High Settings with Natural.

The pictures all have their shading level to max. hope this helps some.

personally ill be using "high settings with natural". It kinda looks like watercolor. but i dont like how it looks without the natural shader. I was using the low settings(clicking fast on the epsxe video settings) just because i didnt like the look of the higher ones. Natural shader makes it more appealing.

I really don't like how that looks. Change the Hi-Res textures to Stretch, or maybe turn off Texture Filtering for 2D sprites. You'll notice that it'll look better (see below).

Here are the settings that I use.  Turning the shader on or off is the only difference between these two sets of pictures.

Yea, its a tough choice between pixely sprites, or cut out-ish sprites. i prefer cut-outish, at least then the pixels on the inside of the sprite blend well, and the outline just blurs/merges some. when its pixely, the black shade and other edges stand out way to much at random or odd points. sometimes even inside teh sprite.

My sprites don't look pixelated at all. Follow my settings exactly, and see if it makes a difference.  You'll probably need a graphics card with 128 MB or more though.

I'm trying out games that were re-released for the PSOne, like Gradius Deluxe Pack (Gradius 1 and 2) and Salamander Deluxe pack (Salamander 1 and 2).  Pretty cool.  I get to make use of the enhanced natural shader for these!

Any other re-releases? They'd have to be ones that were nearly arcade perfect.  :wonder:

Your FFT Without picture makes it very clear....the pixels i mean. look at the chemists bag, or the squires at teh top right. you can make our blocks very easily. theres no smooth transition between lines or shapes, its all edged.

I like FFT without anything

the sharpness of the text and sprites when they are un-filtered adds definition and sharpness when you produce videos

For producing videos, no settings make it alot easier. considering screen recordings often come somewhat blurred somewhere down the line.

Somoene needs to make a direct recording plugin for an emulator. thats something awesome to post about.

i agree with arch here, not blending anything at all, or only a very slight sprite blending

with this kind of thing the smoothing really goes too far in most settings

The detail is noticeable, but only just. It's not necessary, especially if it eats RAM up a lot.

Here's me messing around with SH 1.  I've uploaded 4 pics, showing the 4 levels of intensity.  Which one do you think looks best?
