Help! / ePSXe plugins and getting it to run fast
April 03, 2009, 08:30:29 am
Okay, so I need to use ePSXe to use the pec emulation codes, but I'm not used to this thing at all.  Thankfully I've got nearly everything running like I want it to.

But I can't get it to run faster than 60fps.  Quite frankly that's not anything too terribly bad, but I like to be able to speed through stuff.

Also, is there a particular sound plugin that's good for FFT?  The music sounds a little off on the one it comes with, so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for this.

Thanks guys.

Edit: Oh, and I tried toggling frame skipping/ no auto-detect frame rate but I think there's at least one other thing I need to toggle other than framerate at the video plugin.

Quote from: "SentinalBlade"Just use FFTastic, its gpt a real nice GUI

Also heres a tool to convert your save from mcr to gme :)

Once I've converted my game file to .gme, do I just put that in the same folder as FFTastic.exe and it's supposed to work fine?

Because I have the same error as dokurider.  All I did was dowload the two programs, convert my .bin memcard to .gme, move it into the FFTastic folder, and try to run FFTastic.  But it doesn't work...

What files do you have in that same folder?  Mine has just clf.dew and config.dew that generate the first time it tries to start up.

EDIT: I ran as an administrator and, guess what?  It works fine...  FALSE ALARM!

But yeah doku: if you still are needing this try running it as an administrator if your comp will let you

It's not just a matter of feedback

It's also a matter of getting done what you want to do, and having people interested in playing the patch.  If you are dependent on feedback to getting anything published, chances are you'll stop making it when the newness factor wears off.

Once you actually have something made for people to look at, then your potential fans will have a stronger position in what they feel about your patch.  That, and you'll get a better idea of whether or not you want to go through with the whole process.  But if you don't really feel like making the patch anymore that's cool too.  I rarely play any patches that have anything short of a complete overhaul, so I probably wouldn't care whether you had something or not.

I've been at the computer too long....

I'm wondering as well why this isn't closed yet.

Dominic will get around to it soon enough.

Quote from: "Kuraudo Sutoraifu"I don't this guy is funny, but that might be because I'm a Christian.

I didn't find him funny, and I'm not Christian, so it's not just that.

But that certainly helps lower the funnyness factor.

No no, he can't do that.

That'll take time away from making videos that convert Christians to atheists, I tell you.

Uh huh.

You ought to post this in the ideas thread.  You have not created anything as of yet, and thus your thread will be deleted in order to regulate this forum section properly.  Please read the announcement thread in this section for more information.

So you wouldn't use Teleport?  I don't get what you mean by "the character with it."  Unless you are doing a hack where everyone has fixed RSMs, you can remove Teleport if you think it's no good.

In most situations, yes I probably would not use Teleport as my movement ability.  Then again, in most situations, I would also probably not use Walk on Water either, so it is now a "sometimes" ability.  On some maps it makes for a good retreat ability, I tell you.  And instead of being awesomely overpowered, it is just mediocre.

If you made Teleport a selectable option like that, I would... actually nevermind.

I still think the Move OR Act aspect of Teleport is better hack.  Too much option IMO.

Put a threat on the bathroom wall that says you will shoot up the place.

Actually no don't.  That usually only scares the naive students.

By get back at school, do you mean     admins?

A particular set of teachers?

If you want to destroy the school itself, you need to give the school a bad name.  So write a note about how evil the school is, and go crazy/suicide.   But make sure to tell everyone that you are a student at your high school.   (Whatever the name is).

Something tells me that whatever you can do to get back at the school, it won't be worth the cost.

Right.  I also left the option to Save/Not Save Algus in Mandalia right before battle starts.  Any time there is an option, I leave the option available.  More subtle stuff might be lost if there is any.

I made sure to leave the in-battle events for Fort Zeakden, and I simply took out all text except for Gmph!  If the conversations in any of the other battles effect the events (ch1 only), I'll need to go back and re-enable them.
