The Lounge / Persona 2: Custom Sprites
August 28, 2011, 03:02:04 am
Well, I have been playing Persona 2: Innocent Sin recently, but, I have also been using RPG Maker VX.
So, I thought, "Oh, I like Persona 2 Sprites, so maybe I should put them into RPG Maker VX!
So, I'm trying to make custom sprites from Persona 2 sprite bases, which I feel very confident on,
but I would like some criticism, because there are a few things I can't seem to do right; Like the shading.
I thought you guys would be a great group of people to ask since a lot of you are good spriters.
Can somebody point me in the right direction, tell me what I need to fix?

Help! / Re: Event Editing
October 10, 2010, 10:02:29 am
Oh I've already done that jon! Its pretty simple to be honest. Im working on a project and it starts at Lenalia Plateau. What you would do in the event text would be
" ChangeMap(077,x00) (Changes map to Lenalia Plateau)
ZERO(x0031) (Resets "World Map Location to Zero)
ADD(x0031, x0001) (Sets "World Map Location" to whichever map scene was played at)
ZERO(x0230) (Sets "Path to Gariland to Lenalia Plateau to Zero)
ADD(x0230) (Opens the Path to Gariland to Lenalia Plateau)
ZERO(x021D) (Sets "Dot for Lenalia Plateau" to Zero)
ADD(x021D, x0001) (Makes it so Lenalia Plateau's world map dot is visible on the world map)
ZERO(x021D) (Sets "Dot for Gariland" to Zero)
ADD(x021D, x0001) (Makes it so Gariland's world map dot is visible on the world map) "

You can find all the event Instructions (or the ones we know about) here: http://ffhacktics.com/instructions.php
Add and Zero are used for stuff like opening paths, towns, facts, bios, shop item availibility, and a lot more.

Alright, so I've been using the New FFtactext to edit FFT: Complete and I still get DTE errors. So, I took a Vanilla Iso and
restored one section at a time with the FFT: Complete ISO. After each section I patched the clean ISO to see if I ran into any errors.

Here are the ones that work and will patch correctly:
ATCHELP.LZW
Battle.BIN
CARD.OUT 1
OPEN.LZW (Surprisingly, since this is the one with the DTE issues)
REQUIRE.OUT
SNPLMES.BIN
SPELL.MES
WLDMES.BIN
WORLD.BIN 03
WORLD.BIN 06
WORLD.BIN 09

Here are ones, when restored to FFT: Complete, will turn a majority of the characters into Japanese text
ATTACK.OUT
BUNIT.OUT
CARD.OUT 2
CARD.OUT 4
EQUIP.OUT
HELP.LZW
JOBSTTS.OUT
WLDHELP.LZW
WORLD.BIN 01
WORLD.BIN 02
WORLD.BIN 10
WORLD.LZW (Only Job Names, Both Unit Names, and Ability Names turn out good)

And these ones are one that give you an error when trying to restore them to FFT: Complete Text
All TUTO_.MES sections
WORLD.BIN 04
WORLD.BIN 05
WORLD.BIN 08

Idk if any of this info was helpful, but I just wanted to tell you all about this.
I also dont know if this ONLY happens when restoring, but I thought id throw this out here.

@Jon nahh, i meant you move to one location of the world map to another and it triggers a scene. Like the red dots that indicate a new storyline, when you land on them a scene appears.
@Kokojo yeah i guess ill do that

Ok, I started some editing again today. I want to know how to start an event when you walk to another town or field. Is there any way of doing this yet? or are the codes necessary for doing that is still unknown?

I kno y'all wanted me to use another sprites portrait for the face, but I didnt XD I looked at Izlude's portrait though, and used his eyes, and looked at his shading to see how it should be done. Does it look better? I changed the hair a bit, too, but it prolly still looks the same. What about the hair didn't you all like?[attachment=1:3o8kmk73]Hayley Williams Portrait (Almost done).png[/attachment:3o8kmk73]
And yes, yes, I kno its really stupid for beginners to try and make a portrait without using a base. :/
Btw, heres the picture the portrait is based of.

Help! / Re: adding characters to event battle
September 02, 2010, 10:08:26 pm
You could do it possibly, if you specify the exact unit you want in the entd (like the sprite, name (if a story character), level, etc.) and check the boxes "Load Formation" and "Control" i think you might be able to. but it might not work with another file if those unit are not in ur roster.

Are the people you want to add the event in your roster? or do you just want like random characters there?

Well, if you use FFTPatcher and go to the ENDT Tab and look for the event, you can add the characters there.

Well the hair on the right side of the portrait is Ovelia's hair reduced to 4 colors. I added an extra skin color and removed the 5th hair color from the shine effect. So now its not shiny lol. I also fixed her face and shaded it differently. Im hoping it looks a little better than the previous versions.

Spriting / Hayley Williams, Anyone?
August 31, 2010, 03:21:00 am
Okay, I'm seriously debating making a Hayley Williams sprite for kicks and giggles. I've even made a portrait. Yeah, its prolly crappy. I did it all by scratch. But for being scratch I thought it came out better than I thought it would have lol. Comments or Criticisms?

This Frimelda looks a lot better than the one on the sprite sheet. A lot more vibrant and noticeable and the hair looks a helluva lot better. I think ur doing a pretty kick ass job with the sprite Zozma!

@thisisstupid999 That would be Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. Which came after the Original FFT. The Original FFT is the same as WotL except without some bonus things like weapons, multi-player, extra characters and jobs, etc. It was released like a long time ago on the Playstation One. Thats the game that brought this site together. In like 2008 they made the portedPSP version of the game and added a bunch of stuff to it like Onion Knight and Dark Knight, and bonus scenes and stuff. Essentially they're the EXACT game just with one being portable with bonus stuff and the original with a horrid translation lmao.

To me, WotL was not a major disappointment. I really didn't mind the slowdown at all when I first played WotL since I hadn't played the original since like 2001 so i never noticed it. I loved the new translation, it seemed to fit the time period they were trying to portray the game as. There are some broken things in the game and such, but it was, to me, a decent port of the original.

After getting the original again (since my first copy broke in 2001) i did notice the slowdown of the PSP version, it kinda did bothered me, but not too much. Yet, i still believe it was a good port and not a total disappointment.
