Spriting / Re: NEW SPRITE: Male Mystic Knight

I'm not a fan of the palette choices on the sprite's cape/turban/boots. They're all too... bland and white. Try looking at caped vanilla sprites and base some palette colors from them. Colors like blue, brown, or black would look nice on it.

As for the portrait, rework the headgear's gem as it looks like that it was just glued onto the turban. Make it look more natural, I would suggest. Same goes with the scarf. Your best bet is to look at finished portraits with scarfs. Make use of them, and rework the scarf from there.

Keep up the good work!

He's looking good. The left bang on the portrait stands out too much, you should lighten its outline or alter it, as Kage mentioned. Show a little bit of his back hair on the portrait, too, if you're going to use the new version of the sprite. Also, do follow Lijj's edit on the armor and other minor shadings. It's really a nice touch-up. :)

Love the redesign idea! Great job, Choto. ;)

The maps looks nice with those shadow effect, though it might pop up better and blend more nicely if the battle/object sprites' shading gets improved. This looks promising. :)

Spam / Re: Top three favorite RPGs?
August 22, 2014, 09:14:30 pm
I haven't played lots of RPG titles since PS3 era, so I may be missing out on titles that really deserve top spots.

1. Suikoden (series) - love them all! I haven't played the first one yet though.
2. Final Fantasy Tactics
3. Digimon World (1-3) - Something close to my heart.

3.5 Persona - really love modern-styled RPG's
4. Rune factory

Slightly darken the eye colors, esp. the whitest one, as it stands out a little. I'd go for the less saturated ones at 25%/33%. But if you can't decide, go for something in between what you want: 71%! Just choose what you prefer. All the hair colors look fine anyway.

The hair looks good already, although I would suggest going for a simpler design for his coat. The latest coat seems a bit complex for me for you, and the outlines stands out to me like they are chains. With using simpler details on his coat, finishing the sprite would be less daunting~ Also, which online game from SAO are you going to base his outfit from? If the outfit you are basing it from seems difficult to translate to pixel form, then yeah, like I said, try going for a simpler (and kind of unique at that) coat first. For me, it's Kirito as long as he's wearing a black long coat / duster + his matching portrait. And yes, try Kage's advice on using Jot5 Sephiroth's coat, although you may have some problems on the back frames because of Seph's hair. :P

And BTW, hi Seushiro~! It's been a while.

Also, for starters, avoid trying to use custom colors for your sprites. I recommend using colors from vanilla sprites and from most submitted sprites here. You could basically achieve that by following Twinees and Seushiro's advices. For example, if you need yellow hair, then take the colors from Ramza or Agrias' hair, just like what Seushiro did. But if you really want to use different colors not normally found on the sprites I recommended, then at least look at each vanilla sprite shades' color values, and change the values consistently. What tool are you using?

It's really nice to see it done. Great work, Atma!

For the female version, this could be a good reference based on your plan to show some more 'body' lol

The ff wikia is a great reference for this: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_Tactics

We should copy how they put things there. :))

Can you add people as admins as well on Wikia? I think I can help with various layouts (like editing the bg\logo). ;)

I like the logo. Cute!

Sounds like I fit the bill, but I don't have the perfect program for making trailers. I would prefer someone who's very knowledgeable with After Effects. ;)

I suggest doing the main battles now to unlock you more randoms, like Jumza's advice. Some of the early randoms involve hard monsters you can only beat once you've gone thru other spots on the game and unlocked more jobs and equipments. I, too, can't beat those monsters, but I find other units my own size instead. (humans!) But yeah, I wish those sorority of Lamias and gang of turtles transferred to later randoms of the game, since they're pretty much common early game, only giving 1 or 2 easy randoms for grinding early.
