FFT Arena / Re: Arena battle videos and discussion

If anything, this shows that more full-time casters need to run silence protection. Granted silence isn't as common as, say, don't act, it can still be a huge problem if they run across teams that do use silence.

Anyways, my thoughts on the team. Team is all around decent. From what I see, the team severely lacks status removal and MP restoration. Granted the wizard practically has no MP problems and the archer + samurai don't need it period, the oracle definetly needs it because she seems to be a good sandbagger with those Raise 2's, but once's she's out of MP, she's basically boned, and the team starts falling apart. I would consider running either Move-MP Up or Absorb MP, Ether or Hi-Ether on Archer, or, at the very least, run Spell Absorb. Or you could try running Summon Magic on Wizard and running Carbunkle. Something to restore her MP when she runs out (or if against a team that's packing Bizen Boat). Archer I already mentioned in the video; Barbuta not really worth running Equip Armor for. I would say Crystal Helmet because quite a number of teams have some form of don't act on them somewhere, usually Paralyze (or Arm Aim/Blackmail/Kagesougi if it procs don't act, and there's even a few Silfs here and there), and you don't want him don't acted because he's one of your better damage dealers. And he's the only one on your team that can cure don't act. But that's just me. Samurai is fine basically; I'd try Koutetsu Knife instead of Kiyomori since he's already got MA Save and can keep himself alive decently well though.

Overall, not bad for your first team though. Your team did good overall. But as said before, switch some stuff around and they'll be better off. Also, just keep in mind that dark and fire are two of the more common elements found on other teams. Just my two cents. Welcome to Arena, by the way.

Wait, don't Cursed Ring users always revive on 0 count 100 CT?

Anyway, feeldawrath's team hung in there for quite a bit there, but Charm + lethal jumps from lancers eventually did his team in. Not a bad team for a first timer; can definetly be improved.

Some tips for feeldawrath though: IMO, Paladin could be much better; should've run a straight PA setup if you're gonna run Warpath, or at least a Kaiser Plate instead of Crystal Shield, as mentioned in the video. Bard and Summoner should have definetly had Short Charge. The gun on summoner was interesting, but I don't think it's worth losing Short Charge over. Also, Item puts her in close range which is bad; I'd say ditch Item, and run Fairy + Moogle, and a secondary like....Yin-Yang or Time Magic or Lore or something. Something to keep her away from enemy melee units. Ninja was decent; might as well give him 70 brave, though.

A trifecta of matches for Barren. Lots of green and red.

Ran a few matches for Otabo's Cloak and dagger team results below,  No video posted because I can't figure out how to get any capture software working

Vs My team "Magic Doods"
5 wins 3 losses Otobo's favor
His physical attacks diddn't do much but he out sped me by a good margin, He has incredible Sandbag power and several times made a complete comeback from having 2 units dead and 1 petrified.  While the early match was quite even, once my bard ran out of MP I couldn't cause enough harm to keep up with his sandbag power so I lost momentum and eventually died to chain-zodiacs.

Vs "First strike"
5/0 My favor
First Strike has a Brutal initial Volley that will deal a minimum of 250 damage to any unit without bolt/water/earth absorbtion that's lacking auto-potion.  if this is enough to cause more than 1 of your units to stop to heal themselves then you're probably going to be in an effective 2 on 6 match very quickly.
Every time you lost a physical attacker on the first wave of Lore spam thanks to your high movement leaving you in the mimes physical attack range. This first wave also leaves your Mediator in critical so a second attacker falls back to heal her.   This leaves 1 character a free turn to use offense before the second wave of lores/wizanabus kills everyone.

Vs YUSODERP
1/1  but then i realised it was an out of date version so information gained is questionable.
It was fun seeing your Physical attack team shift gears effortlessly to being an effective status team once you were up against an opponent nearly immune from damage,  Don't Acts, Charms, and Deathsentances were the name of the game on both sides, and the winner was always in doubt,  The Dancers Ruthless wearing down of your speed however eventually caught up with you on the second match and eventually you weren't able to revive as fast as the immortal chemists were able to kill you.

Reccomendations.

Your Squire and Ninja are fairly solid units who do their Jobs well and are hard to take down with most attacks The inclusion of Secret fist on a physical unit was unusual but it did help you greatly in the matches you won. However both are very vunerable to enemy units with Concentration or guns.

Your Thief Is an Incredible Healer and has brought your team back from multiple near defeats,  However once he goes down usually the rest of the team begins to fall apart.  Since he has incredible speed, Self MP restoration and Quickening I would reccomend swapping out ChronoTrigger for Auto-Potion and possibly drop his brave some so that he'll tank hits better.

Your Mediator Is an incredible source of damage but She's fragile and vunerable, She also easily  Gets conned into summoning moogle when she can be Zodiacing somebody.  I'd replace her Orihalcum with a P-Bag and Her Dracula Mantle with a Setiemnson so she's less vunerable to enemy casters 1 or 2 shotting her.

Thanks, Malroth. I knew all along that guns and concentrate units were bad against this team; found that out from multiple tests against multiple teams before I introduced them. Even though this is a theme team (knives & mantles), and they're not really meant to be optimal in the first place, I'll see what I can do to improve them.

That reminds me, I still need to beat Altima in my WotG run. Just need to find a good setup for her.

Quote from: The Damned(I was still under the impression that Projectile Guard wasn't supposed to or just couldn't block the Spellguns since they're, you know, magick. Of course, if Projectile Guard is supposed to do that, then it's been "broken" for a lot longer than 138 since I'm pretty sure I got shot in the face every damn time I had Projectile Guard against those things.)

According to the latest match I put up, Projectile Guard is working as normal; it was blocking arrows and normal gun shots, but not magic spell gun shots. I think it's fine.

Dat Counter at the end of Round 3!

Very nice performance all around by Myriad. May have a small change for the mediator, but this looks like a team I'll be keeping around for a while.

I see. Gotta come up with something else for Zalera, then.

Thanks Eternal.

Throw Silverware is hitting 00% on Zalera for some reason. His evasion can't be that high, or is there something I'm missing here? Is there any other ability accessible to players that cancels charging/performing other than Throw Silverware and Disrupting Gale?

WotG progress update:

I'm practically in Chapter 4 (well, technically just beat Velius, and still have to do the rooftop battle). Something tells me that I won't be getting any specials in Ch. 4, depends on what level Rafa & Malak come in at. If they come in at 49, then I can probably get Orlandu, but if not, that's alright with me.

Hardest fights for me after UBS 2, were probably Grog Hill and Outside Riovanes. The latter especially (level 140+ Vanquishers that can nuke pretty much 75% of the field at once isn't pretty, but at least it was more forgiving than UBS 2 or Zalmo.) Velius took me two tries (first try I reset because he landed stop on both my Loremaster w/Engrave and Lapidary.

If Rafa + Malak enter > 50, then I'm just may powerlevel to 99 and really have some fun.

@Otabo
If you want to run WOTG with FFT +, wait for the next version, which will further balance the gameplay, implement more stuff & finish the DD

Yeah, that's what I was planning on doing. :D
