I decided to do this after seeing Picklegirlfanboy showing information on it.
(this is nowhere near a pain in the butt as my ff4 hack has turned out to be lol)

since its such a simple task and ive also messed with this game a little before and only need a hex editor and cdprog. (and maybe snespal)

the mods:
Make each human/mystic character slightly more unique
Mystics especially will be known for having distinct traits or elements
Add a second version of Asellus to the game in her already Mystic form (permenantly mystic)
Add Alkarl to the game as a special mystic.
Alter a few of the spells to actually be worthwhile for their cost

What I have already done:
Common Mec (unused) has been turned into full mystic Asellus
Woman (unused) has been turned into Alkarl as a Mystic

What's next:
each mystic will be equipped with their own unique item that can't be removed like mesarthym's mellow ring
these items grant 3 abilities, which appear one at a time as the mystic grows stronger (learns their 3 mystic skills sword/glove/boots)

Their "unique" skills plus magic that they have the gift for:

White Rose: Rose Broach- Flash, Smile, Cosmic Rave [Mystic, Mind]
(how very charming, with Smile and Cosmic Rave she certainly isn't useless. she also is now the only mystic that has the gift for mind magic)

Ildon: Wind Amulet- Thunderbolt, Gale Attack, Magnetic Storm [Mystic]
(his attacks are pretty good, I can't think of another school of magic to give him the gift for though. this is your wind mystic)

Zozma: Fury Ring- Heat Smash, Ignis, Heatwave [Mystic, Evil]
(Zozma originally did not even have the gift for evil magic, corrected! also this is your fire mystic.)

Mesarthym: Mellow Ring- Ice Smash, Life Rain, Maelstrom [Mystic, Rune]
(clearly your water mystic)

Silence: Stone Charm- Rock, Quake, Quicksand* [Mystic, Shadow]
(I think shadow makes sense on him as u get him via shadow quest. He may have butterfly wings but this is your earth mystic)
(Quicksand will be altered to do top tier damage like other 3rd tier mystic attacks)

Timelord: Mystic Gloves- Fist, Gold Hand, Corkscrew [Mystic, Time]
(this mystic already has a huge advantage, gave him some decent fist fighting skills, i read that "fist" combo's really well)

Rei: Mystic Mail?- Lullaby, Pheremones, Sabers [Mystic, Mirage]
(I dont really know about this setup, then again she is probably my least favorite mystic. Im open to suggestions)
(I'm sorry but she needs work, and 6 life points? horrible)

Nusakan: Mysticwear- Bloodsucker, Magic Heal, Illstorm* [Mystic, Arcane]
(these 3 skills seemed appropriate for this doctor, Illstorm has been altered to do top tier damage instead of just status infliction)

Asellus (Mystic): Dusk Blade- Kasumi, Moonlight Cut, Moon Scraper [Mystic, Life]
(she has the stats of the version you find in the Cygnus/Emelia's quest. as a full mystic that makes her pretty tough. and with life magic? great!)
(Moon Scraper, just like Rei's Sabers, is a skill normally not usable. I know it works, however a slight graphicall glitch occurs where her animation freezes afterwords no big deal)

Alkarl: Miracle Blade- Kaiser Wing, Final Crusade, Re-Al-Phoenix [Relm, Space]
(Alkarl makes the only mystic that doesnt have mystic magic as my only reason for making him one is so he can learn some alkaiser skills)
(I threw in Space Magic as well to have a human/mystic that has the gift as opposed to just one stupid monster)

Humans:
a few humans will be slightly altered

Mei-Ling: Oh my god 3 str and 70 hp? thats terrible! lets make that 10 str and 90 hp and lets throw in the gift of Life Magic too (10 lifepoints? perfect!)
(She is probably my favorite human female but her starting stats were always sub-par)

Doll: Why does a human have mystic magic? well lucky human, Im gonna give you the gift making her the only human with it.
but that's not all! Im going to pull out the ol SNESPAL and change that ugly shade of greyish purple she has for a haircolor into a rose/hot pink

Lute: I donno why I like lute, i guess i have a thing for bards (and so does the saga series lol), anyway Ill give him the gift for Relm magic.
(if i have any items left i may give him one that lets him use Battle Song/Sad Song or whatnot)

Text corrections:
there are a few incorrect spellings as well as dummieditems labled "not use"


More to come. the mod is mainly to make mystics more unique and desireable since humans really have the biggest potential.
i could just make all the mystics into humans but that would kind of take away from the game and its 4 main races.

Lastly, "Final Strike" now does significantly more damage as it should since it destroys the weapon its attached to
(last time I also made it so the weapon didnt break either, but thats totally "broken" in the other way lol)

This may seem a little strange, but because there are too many characters simply handed to you...:
I've been considering this for a little while due to the fact that I have disabled the skill "invitation".  I'm thinking about removing the item "Remedy" from the chemist set and replacing it with a rare item used to hire special unit mercenaries. The reason being, because there are so many special units available to join your party that you will not be able to collect them all anyway. I'm considering this alternative to making them all set to join you automatically so that  you can save up this rare item and pick your own (if they are at the point where they will drop out of the story permenantly anyway such as gafgarion at lionel) certain actions will reward you these rare items.

the characters you can recruit this way will be:

Gafgarion [Dark Knight] (you must sacrifice getting boco, the only available monster unit in order to get gaffy)
Miang [Terror Knight] (otherwise dies at lionel)
Beatrix [Paladin] (otherwise never seen again after church outside of town)
Vicks (new) [Blue Mage] (????)
Jessie [Blue Mage] (????)
Frimelda [White Knight] (plans have her to be seen with Beatrix  at back gate of lezalia, this is her only appearance)
Tamara [Brawler] (????)
Miluda [Cross Knight] (otherwise dies at Finath river, recruiting her is the only way to get the Golden Lion knight sword)
Monica [Valkyrie] (otherwise dies at murond temple, outside)
Golagros [Cross Knight] (otherwise dies at murond temple, outside)
Ignis [Arch Knight] (otherwise never seen again after DD quest, recruiting her is the only way to get the final katana)
Gretchen  (temporary name for the 20yo female, seen with Tietra in chapter 1)(lol LD dont kill me) [Green Mage]

Help! / Ninja Bombs (Changing what they do)

I'm sure its been asked but i haven't seen it.

I would very much like to change the 3 bomb skills to cast a different spell (if thats what they do)
or perhaps its that they have specific effect files attached to them? Has anyone messed with this because ive never tried after the first attempt with no result?

Just to give anyone a neat idea:

If anyone is intereseted, the ffta2 character "Lady Frimelda" has a beautifully made portrait and a sprite can EASILY be made by using my "Miang2" sprite as a base and possibly custom miluda's skirt. Think about it, is all im sayin'

This section is for anyone interested in editing scenes on this patch (as i will no longer be working on that aspect of it)

the first one that needs to be worked on is the scene after the Gariland battle:

The scene begins with Vicks bragging to Monica that he will be "moving up in the ranks soon" as he has set Ramza and co up for failure in the Gariland fight (not expecting them to survive the ambush after he teleports out).

Monica begins to question it, however Vicks assures her it is a fail-safe plan. Before Monica is able to say more, delita busts in followed by Ramza and accuses Vicks of setting them up.

Vicks will deny it, claiming that he had complete faith in their abilities.
Ramza calms Delita, saying he understands but there is little they can do at that point in time.. scene ends shortly after

i mention this scene because it was in the works but VERY incomplete and appears glitch for test patches.
being chapter 1 its one of few thats a very obvious problem. It's also important for developing Vick's and Monica's characters...

Zodiac, i noticed that your attack out editor, tho you fixed the problem with it resetting the obstacles (objects) on maps there is another problem...
When i created the Warjilis battle in my patch using a hex editor i had to rearrange some scenario orders. For example: the warjilis battle in my patch executes immediately after meeting delita at the port, and the event, in actuality is the one thats originally used for the fight with quecklain inside lionel. i then stole grog hill event and used that for the quecklain event.

well when i use your attack.out editor it resets them back to normal causing me to lose my warjilis event totally and it makes the end of the port scene loop back into that same map,

Okay,

Would someone of decent skill level be interested in doing a head transfer for me? Attaching Lede's head or the dancer head and hair, to Agrias' body.

why don't i do it? i rarely have any time to devote to spriting anymore..

AI gets really retarded, especially with black magic.

Solutions? I cant simply give every mage "short charge" or whatnot that would be lame.

Monsters being recruitable limits how powerful they can be made.

However if the majority isn't opposed to it, they can be sealed off as enemy only (exception being boco) and made much more powerful for the random encounters

I need one or two people willing to test my monsters and battles up untill chapter 2.

one person focused on monster developement: someone that can make some good suggestions on balancing each of the available monsters.

and the other focused on battle difficulty.

I need these mechanics fine tuned so that i can focus on implimenting the actual events. Just be aware that your not really getting a sneak peak at the story as so much as you are seeing a few gutted events.

I have been thinking it over and before i get to the point where it is determined, I must decide what combination of characters will be playable.

Originally it was to be this way:
Agrias gets abducted instead of Ovelia, whom you end up getting late chapter 4. Zalbag Is your holy knight, and Beatrix is available (most likely almost just like a holy knight as well.

However, im quite fond of agrias being in my party so:
Ovelia gets captured anyway, You get Agrias, but later in the game than chapter 2. This results in you haveing 2 holy knights available Zalbag and Agrias. Beatrix would become a boss, defeating her gets you the only Save the Queen sword in this patch which will be altered as well.
This also leaves an open character slot, Allowing a secret way to hire Gafgarion at the last minute which would land you 2 dark knights, in addition to having the 2 holy knights.

remember, its the one that gets abducted that does NOT join your party EVAR

Gravity/drain formulas damages based on current hp instead of max

Formula 2E (mightysword) can hit monsters and unarmed humans

JP Scroll Glitch, Fix

Defend innate all

Defend raises defense by 25%

Undead only take 25% max hp damage from phoenix downs

Regen affects current hp% instead of max

Poison affects current hp% instead of max

100% knockback with "Dash" and "Throw Stone"

"Death Sentence" ignores "cancel dead"

Potion Formula = Max(030,XX% Max HP)
Hi-Potion Formula = Max(070,YY% Max HP)
X-Potion Formula = Max(150,ZZ% Max HP)

Axes & Flail damage becomes (Rdm{0..PA-1}+PA)*WP (solid damage)

Okay, ive seriously been trying to figure out how to make sure that you cant obtain better gear without leveling up and the only real thing i can come up with is, only allowing the basic weapons to be sold in shops and making everything else you have to steal from enemies.

this of course will make thieves much more useful. and on top of that you can save your money for potions and the like which would be more expensive if this is the case.

Any thoughts, or ideas? I got the idea to do this from Tactics Ogre, where you can only buy like the second or 3rd leveled gear in shops and the rest were rare or stolen.

Based on my idea, enemies will gain the next level weapon/gear of each type every 10 levels.
In shops i was thinking of spreading out the first 3 levels of gear only, thats what? iron sword etc.. the rest would have to be stolen or found on maps or poach items.

alright i guess ill show some bugs ive encountered every now and then.

like wtf is this!? Job 3A, attacks normally dies normally, but when he takes any kind of hit, even blocking one, he looks bugged like its reading his walking animations.
